Best foods for anemia

Wednesday, August 28, 2013

Do you feel weakened? Feeling dizzy, in a state of angst and/or having memory loss? Congratulations! You may be anemic! Of course this isn't a good thing, but I'm trying to give you a taste of my optimism.
Adopting a more serious tone, you should know that anemia is characterized by the lack of red cells in the organism. This may be caused by a variety of problems. This may happen because of a certain disease that affects the production of red cells in your body, or just because of your diet. That is why there is a lack of hemoglobin and of proteins that red cells use to transport oxygen from your lungs to every point of your organism.
Here are some causes and solutions for anemic people:

 1. The lack of folic acid
A most likely cause for anemia is the unusual level of folic acid. Your body needs to be constantly supplied with it, and you can do that by eating a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables. And when I say "fresh", I mean vegetables that weren't cooked, because cooking them may destroy this useful substance. So next time you are in a restaurant, try ordering the salad.

2. The lack of iron
This is a well known cause for anemia as well. Start eating foods that are rich in iron like red meat and eggs, spinach, cabbage, integral cereals, bread, avocado, oysters, pumpkin, peaches, soy and many others.

3. The lack of vitamin B12
If you're a vegetarian, then you should take a little break from it and eat some meat or some dairy products. As you may have guessed, these are the foods that contain vitamin B12, and if you want that anemia gone, you should taste them more often.

Now you know some of the most common causes for anemia. But I'm gonna help you a little more, by suggesting some vegetables and fruits for your next shopping list, and explain why it is good to consume them. Also, you will find out more ingredients that will help you choose the best foods for anemia.

1. Parsley

Parsley is rich in iron, vitamins A, B, C and K, amino-acids, folic acid and beta carotene. Not only is it perfect for anemia, but it will boost your immune system as well. So, drink some parsley juice, or just add it in food. But I'm warning you! The combination between food and parsley is yummy!

2. Broccoli

As kids, most of us were grossed by this vegetable. And for good reason! But we're adults now (or at least mature little kids) and we should take advantage of this natural treasure. Containing iron, calcium, magnesium, zinc, copper and vitamins A, B, C, E and K, broccoli helps reduce the tired state that anemia gives you, and like parsley, helps boosting the immune system.

3. Banana
Well, fruits will always be more awesome than vegetables, just because they taste so much better. And bananas are the best and most delicious way to get rid of the effects of anemia, because they are an excellent source of potassium, magnesium, phosphor, iron and proteins. It is recommended to eat bananas at breakfast, between meals and whenever you have the chance. You can't go wrong with bananas!

4. Carrots
Let's take Bugs Bunny's example, and eat carrots, for they are rich in beta carotene, and many nutrients in its composition sustain our metabolism, increases the level of hemoglobin and enhances your immunity system. It is highly recommended to drink carrot juice daily, if you're anemic, and eat fresh carrots between meals or in salads.

5. Yogurts
A cup of yogurt is a cup of necessary nutrients that your organism wouldn't say no to. It is important in the treatment of anemia because it it's rich in riboflavin, thiamin, niacin, pantheistic acid, vitamins A, B, C and E, proteins, calcium, magnesium and zinc. A cup of yogurt a day keeps anemia away!

These are some of the best foods for anemia, and if you want to get rid of it or just want to prevent it, take into consideration my small shopping list for fruits and vegetable that will help you do that.
